High tea: Mandarin Oriental

Sometimes not having a plan is great.  Didn't have a reservation.  Wasn't even dressed like I should have been for high tea.  But okay, we were in the neighborhood and we were hungry, so why not?  I'd say the only thing that made an impression was the rose petal jam.  Which is what a lot of people say about high tea at the Mandarin Oriental.  I was just hungry.  And when you're hungry, you're not really paying attention to much else.  Hee hee.  And, the funny thing about sharing a tea set is having to cut items that are already bite-size into even smaller pieces.  I had every intention of returning with girlfriends for an actual high tea experience but there were too many other places to go in HK!  Maybe one reason we weren't motivated to return was that there is no view here.  I'd say for a leisurely afternoon, unless it is between shopping or errands, maybe going somewhere with a view would be a more enjoyable way to sip tea, have rose petal jam with scones (the main attraction is the jam, not the scones--go to the Four Seasons for scones), and catch up with girlfriends.
