I live where the blue dot is. Tai Po Market is just around the corner from the train station. I already have plans to walk around the market after work before taking a mini-bus from the market to home. This will break up the long commute plus give me a chance to maybe pick up some dinner!
Tai Po Market sells everything. Fresh, frozen, raw, cooked, etc. The older area is a traditional "wet" market. There is also a newer, indoor market.
Ah Por Tofu "flower" (sweetened silken tofu)--There is always a line
Vegetables can be unbelievably inexpensive. Three large zucchinis can be as cheap as HK$5, which is less than US$1. I got giddy buying 3 boxes of blueberries for HK$20...the nearest grocery store sold 1 box for HK$22.90 and another store sold 2 boxes for HK$20
check out the variety of bananas...especially the mini ones
Fish balls
Three-story INDOOR market with stall after stall of seafood, vegetables, or meat.
And air conditioning.
Old ladies setting up shop in front of random store. Other than the homegrown vegetables, it looked as though they were selling weeds. The leaves of these plants, once dried, can be boiled with water to cure or alleviate certain ailments.
Old ladies? Watch it girl....they are younger than me by far....tough life will add years to you.
