I had lunch with April, the other RA, on Tuesday. I think we're
going to be fast friends. Sometimes you just get a feeling about
people.
She made a comment that I'm really
easy-going so I'll be fine here. I laughed out loud. (You're probably laughing out loud too.)
She asked me to tell
her one of my "quirky" things. I told her I can't stand blue pens.
People in Hong Kong use blue pens A LOT. I developed my dislike of blue pens when I was a student in Hong Kong. (Is this considered a full circle moment?) Something about the leaking ink and and smudging and blue streaks on my hand. (Yes, I am aware that black pens can leak too.) And blue ink on blue line paper doesn't look nice. Okay, I'm getting ridiculous...I just don't like blue pens, okay?
I suppose I can come off easy-going when I don't voice my preference or the often nonsensical reason behind it. That's why I packed two dozen pens with me, knowing I'll be surrounded by blue pens. If I show up with my own pen at all times, there will be no need to borrow anyone's BLUE pen and let on that I have an issue with blue pens. Haha. And one more thing: I only use fine point black pens. In fact, the ones I packed are the ultra fine kind. Not just fine. Ultra fine.
Why yes, April, I'm easy-going. (Nope, can't say this with a straight face.)
You had me going until you mentioned the ultra fine part. Mark absolutely hates blue pens. The flat we are staying at is loaded with blue Pilot G-2 07 pens and I LOVE THEM!!! What a refreshing change. Mark still carries his black one but certainly not fine.
ReplyDeleteI am left handed and you just learn to live with your hand smudged up with ink ....forget about pencil. Big hug! Glad you are so easy going.....NOT!!!!!!!
