Sometimes you need people to get you out of your cave. Hale needed to pick up stuff for a party this weekend and asked if I wanted to come with. My instinctive response was, "I wish I could but I have a lot of work to do." She's like, "Let's leave right at 5:45 and then have some dinner and then you can come back to work." I do need to eat...
Hale had an errand to run in Causeway Bay. I met Nat to take the bus to Central to meet Hale. I got to the bus stop before Nat and was about to watch bus 88R drive away. Had a conversation with the bus driver asking when he would leave and what time the next bus would be. Haha. He was about to pull away when I got a text from Nat saying "I'm across". I asked him if it's okay to wait a minute. He's like, "How far away is she? Wait, is that your friend running over here?" It was Nat. So we made the bus!
This bus is expensive! $19.20 for the ride. But it is direct and there's no need to transfer on the train/MTR. Plus no squishiness (or unpleasant body odor).
We met Hale in the Prince Building. Things were closed so we decided to look for food. Went to Lan Kwai Fong area. Walked right by Butao and Nat was like, "We should just wait because it'll never be this empty." There are maybe 20 seats and therefore better to be a party of less than 4. Hard to have 4 seats available at once, much less 4 seats together.
It was totally worth the wait! The menu lets you choose everything that goes in your bowl, from soup, thickness of noddle, spices, meat, and extras like egg, seaweed, and mushrooms. Nat had the "black king" which is a soup base from spareribs and secret spices. Hale and I had the original. Yummilicious!
Then we walked around looking for dessert. Hahaha. But everything was closed by then...we ended up at McDonald's. They each had the double fudge sundae and I got a soy drink. And Hale "forced" me to eat the taro pie. It's apple pie with taro filling. It was yum...but I only ate half. So yay me for self control?
